Why is my tumble dryer not spinning?

The three most common reasons a tumble dryer won’t spin are a seized drum, a faulty motor, or, most commonly, a broken or worn drive belt.

To check the drive belt, try manually turning the drum. This will also help identify if the drum is jammed. If the belt is working correctly, the drum should feel stiff and offer some resistance. If it spins very freely, the belt may be broken. If it’s very difficult to turn or won’t move at all, this could indicate a seized drum or a faulty door switch.

To check the motor, listen for any sound when the dryer is switched on. If there’s no noise at all, this may indicate a motor fault.
